The Aitkin County Council has two goals: (1) increasing
the public’s awareness of child abuse and neglect, and (2)
promoting healthy family relationships.
Education and awareness efforts included:
Blue ribbon campaign; CAPC Facebook page with
postings of educational flyers/posters; and April Child
Abuse Prevention Month promotional efforts of lawn signs,
displays in community libraries, and news articles.
Promoting healthy family relationships involved:
Brochures/posters to local agencies, schools,
and libraries regarding child abuse prevention; funding for
a special promotion involving family activities in the
Aitkin City Park with the theme Tough Times; Strong
Families: Together families face fears, solve problems, make
plans; and funding of family engagement projects presented
by area schools and organizations.
The Aitkin County Child Abuse Council plans to use funds
from the 2023 Radiothon to continue efforts just like these.
The year’s activities will be centered on promoting the
Council’s ongoing theme of “Build a Community for Kids:
Supportive Neighborhoods, Safe Schools, Strong Families,
Shared Resources.”
