The Aitkin County Council has two goals: (1) increasing
the public’s awareness of child abuse and neglect, and (2)
promoting healthy family relationships.
Education and awareness efforts included: Blue
ribbon campaign; CAPC Facebook page with postings of
educational flyers/posters; and April Child Abuse Prevention
Month promotional efforts of lawn signs, displays in
community libraries, and news articles.
Promoting healthy family relationships involved:
Brochures/posters to local agencies, schools, and libraries
regarding child abuse prevention; funding for park activity
boxes in Aitkin, Tamarack, and Hill City; and funding of
family engagement projects presented by area schools,
organizations, local communities, and businesses.
The Aitkin County Child Abuse Council plans to use funds
from the 2024 Radiothon to continue efforts just like these.
The year’s activities will be centered on promoting the
Council’s new a new theme called “Build a Community for
Kids: Healthy Kids, Happy Families.”
