The Aitkin County Council has two goals: 1): Increasing
the public’s awareness of child abuse and neglect, and 2):
promoting healthy family relationships. Effort made in the
last use to support these goals include: Education and
awareness efforts of the Council for 2019-20 included:
*blue ribbon campaign *promotional activities in local
schools *CAPC Facebook page with postings of educational
flyers/posters and a highway billboard with the theme of
“Healthy Parenting: Words Matter.”
Promoting healthy
family relationships for 2019-20 involved:
*brochures/posters to local agencies, schools, and libraries
regarding child abuse prevention *Funding for special
activities presented by various county communities to
support healthy family relationships activities
Radiothon funding this past year was used to provide:
*assistance for the Family Engagement program in the
McGregor Public Schools *assistance for the Need To Know
Project developed by McGregor Kids Plus *assistance for the
Let's Chat program developed by Support Within Reach
*coordinating an awareness campaign using posters, Face
Book, and a highway billboard around the theme as mentioned
above
The Council plans to use funds from the 2020
Radiothon to continue efforts just like these. The year’s
activities will be centered on promoting the Council’s
ongoing theme for 2020-2021 – “Tough Times: Strong Families:
Together families face fears, solve problems, make plans.”
